It's been a (chaotic) while since the last obituary. Another figure of the "Metal Hurlant" generation is gone, Richard Corben died a few days ago. This awful hommage is an insult to his art: he reached such a level in peculiarity & technicity that no one ever followed him... Hyperealistic cartoons, airbrush mastery, modeling or digital techniques, Corben was a pioneer in many ways. With his outrageous yet mastered colors and exagerated lines and volumes, he was a faithful painter of Lovecraft and Poe's nightmares, along with his own deviations.
