I know timing is not perfect: according to "The History of the Necronomicon", Islam would have reached Damas a few decades prior to the Book's writing. But you're not here for history lessons, aren't you?
And don't get it wrong, this strip is not more against Islam than the previous ones mocking Christianity. Don't forget Lovecraft himself was a strong Atheist, opposed to any religion. But he was also fascinated by the "Oriental mysteries", falling in many common tropes and stereotypes along genuine interest.
